Masterclass 1: Lesson 4 of 5
L’Occitane blows up the package
How do you take a palm-sized vial and blow it up to be larger than life?
You focus on the details—and the brand’s creative French Countryside-style beauty products with Aix- en-Provence patterns. In those intricate layers and lattices, there’s an entire story.

L’Occitane wanted to share their holiday skincare collection, whose packaging was a carnival of bright colors and festive linework suggestive of a party, or dollhouse supersized. We crafted oversized speckled ornaments big enough for people to interact with them.

One key to a party like this in downtown New York City is attracting star power. We invited a select group of influencers to an early preview. We then opened the doors to more than 2,000 guests, including more than 100 folks from the media.

The most popular feature was, of course, the interactive part—a giant version of the classic L’Occitane Advent Calendar, in which Eventique created surprise pop-up doors that guests could open to uncover samples and features.

How do you get guests to engage? Oversized gifts!
Love this L’Occitane and Eventique collaboration on a life-size advent calendar.

What inspiration might you draw from this?
If there’s a season, lean all the way in.
Ask your design team to fuse two concepts—a season plus a product will always be original.
Embed surprises so attendees can explore the space together.
When inviting celebrities and media, plan for photo-op props.
